Detailspgvector is an open-source Postgres extension adding HNSW and IVFFlat vector indexes to any PostgreSQL instance, allowing embedding storage and similarity search alongside relational data. Supabase (managed Postgres with generous free tier) and Neon (serverless Postgres, launched 2022) both ship pgvector as a first-class feature, making this the most widely deployed vector backend by developer count.
